More About Noise

Noise is a concern at all our GA airports. As pilots we should be aware of the noise problem and fly friendlier to reduce the noise.
Some airport have noise abatement programs and others have a posted noise abatement policy.
For more information about Southern California noise abatement please check out the https://flyfriendlysocal.com/ site and their very useful interactive map.

Specifically for Torrance Airport
When arriving or more critically departing Torrance Airport there are several strategically located noise monitors. If your aircraft exceeds the published limits you can be called for a review. Too many violations can result in being asked to leave the airport.

Please consider the following, possible creating user defined waypoints in your GPS, to be more aware of the location of the KTOA Noise Sensors.
You probably want to use the ODP file to grab the graphic and table and then add the footnotes (since the published locations are in error). The other data is useful.

Monitor location addresses:

GPS & Lat/Long conversion:

* Casper.aero lists the address for #4 & 5 with “W” for the street which does NOT match their map locations, Without “W” the address matched the map and was used to determine GPS and Lat/Long coordinates.
** Casper.aero lists the zip for #4 as 90501, but the address with zip 90717 corresponds to the depicted sensor location
